He joined the Paris bar in 1999 as a partner with Moquet Borde & Associés, who became Paul Hastings France, to practice IP law, and, in particular, literary and artistic law.

In 2006, he was recruited by DLA Piper to create and develop the Media & Entertainment, Copyright, IP & IT law department in Paris. After nearly eight years with DLA Piper, he joined, as a partner, KGA Avocats, a highly respected French law firm, having a strong practice in media and entertainment law, both French and international. Since November 2016, he is working as an independent attorney.

Before coming to the Bar, Patrick was CEO of ADAMI, (private French agency for the collection of performers’ levies, the equivalent to SAG). He went to ADAMI after four years as Executive Vice President of S.A.C.E.M. (a collective administration society for musical authors’ rights, the equivalent to ASCAP and BMI). So he has a thorough knowledge of the musical and artistic fields.

Patrick has been involved in drafting and negotiating French laws relating to various provisions of the Intellectual Property Code. He also has an extensive experience of international treaties regarding copyright law and intellectual property law. He followed the TRIPS negotiations and was particularly involved in the WIPO Diplomatic Conference that took place in Geneva at the end of 1996.

He was appointed by the EU Commission as an expert for an 18-month mission, as part of a team which provided assistance to the government of the Republic of Croatia for the implementation of their new copyright law.

Patrick is a former law professor at the ESSEC, one of the French leading business schools, and is a regular speaker at symposiums or congresses. For instance, he has been a speaker at USC Symposium and gave several lectures to the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association about EU copyright regulations. His core business is media and entertainment law, both for transactional and litigation matters. He is working extensively for US clients: Hollywood studios, West coast law firms, indies, etc. He also represents famous music artists in French litigation cases (Eric Clapton, Lady Gaga, Rihanna).
